COLOR INSPIRATION: It is said that there are over 300 names for colors in the Japanese language. “Color also has many nuances in Japanese culture,” Boehmer says. “It's much more specific than our language.” For example, when someone says daidai for orange, it is roughly translated as “orange-orange,” but in Japanese it means “the flaming orange of the midday summer sun,” Boehmer explains. The multiple shades and traditional names in this collection pay homage to Japan's deep respect and empathy for color.
