Iris-based perfumes | Iris perfume by Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella
The refined air of old Florence, the packaging that summarizes a prestigious era and an iris-based fragrance that evokes habits and customs of a lost time. These are the premises of the new fragrance and iris-based perfumes by Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. A pharmaceutical company that for years has been creating fragrances created with masterly techniques with surprising bouquets to reinterpret the history and character of Florence.
Iris, the first Eau de Parfum from Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella: combines an exquisitely Florentine iris concrete with the green of galbanum and Timur pepper, while neroli with its soft luminous note leads us to the discovery that culminates in a magnificent meadow of colorful irises. A flowery heart then brings together champaca magnolia, geranium and sambac jasmine, up to the base notes where Florentine iris, musk and ambergris resonate. An intense and elegant perfume, a conversation with oneself. The most precious of raw materials, a refined technique and a fragrance designed in Florence for Florence, with shades of purple to retrace the narrow and romantic alleys of the era in which perfumery, way back in 1221, was an art of the most curious noses in Medici courts.
Iris-based perfumes give the fragrance a powdery note with earthy, green and woody nuances. It resembles the fragrance of violet but is less sweet. Very persistent, the iris fragrance is one of the noblest raw materials for the creation of jus, the cultivation of this noble product takes time and few people know that the perfumed substance is not obtained from the beautiful iris flowers, but from the rhizomes hidden in the Earth. The rhizomes are first dried for a few years then, as soon as their scent matures, steam distilled: this is how the fragrant orris butter is born. Today it is possible to synthetically imitate the fragrance of iris. In luxury perfumes, however, only the natural extract is always used.
In perfumes, the elegant velvety fragrance of iris mixes perfectly with the floral, woody and herbal components, enhancing its scent and sillage.
